Whimsical DIY Paper Flower Wedding Tuesday, May 21, 2013 ~ 3:35 p.m.

Today, I'm here with a second featured wedding that is simply going to knock your socks off. When I first saw the photos, submitted to me by Jessica Fike Photography, I was so impressed by the entire personality and sweet charm behind the entire wedding day. Once more, this wedding is almost entirely DIY, which is really something when you take a look at the 200 handmade paper flowers used throughout! It's a paper lover's dream, if you ask me!

Kristin and Andrew were married last summer at Heston Farm Winery in front of nearly 100 friends and family. While the weather didn't necessarily cooperate that day, it ended up being a blessing in disguise! "The best part of our day was, hands-down, the ceremony," said Kristin. "We had planned on having it in an adjoining field, but the drizzling rain would not quit so we had to move it to the area that had been designated for a dance floor. Most of the guests had to stand and there wasn't much room, but it was so special to have our closest friends and family crowded around us with the soft sound of the rain in the background. A close friend performed a short ceremony that we had created together, and Andrew and I read poems to each other that reflected our feelings rather than writing traditional vows. It was so intimate and peaceful, a perfect way to start the wedding."

As for the fabulous decor, this couple was resourceful, to say the least! All of the flowers were made by the bride herself, which she mixed with mason and baby food jars and votive candles to use as centerpieces. The favors were adorable glass mason jars etched with the bride and groom's initials and wedding date - yes, they did those themselves, too! Chalkboard signs were all made using frames the bride had found at thrift stores, and the "Just Married" and "K hearts A" banners were made by the bride using leftover fabric from the table runners. Besides the colorful paper flowers, the DIY photo booth was probably the biggest hit of the evening, designed by the groom. Andrew set up an iPad on a tripod running an app called, Pocketbooth. He draped burlap fabric and hung lighting to create the backdrop, and voila! Guests could go in, grab some props and take their own photos! The images were later uploaded to Facebook for everyone to see and enjoy later on. See what I mean? Smart and resourceful!

When all was said and done, the bride shared the greatest advice for all you other brides out there. "My biggest advice would be to plan the wedding you want to have, not the wedding that is expected of you. Our wedding was far from traditional, but we loved it! And afterward, people kept saying it was just 'so us,' which seemed like the biggest compliment we could get."

Rainbow Colored Southern Wedding Tuesday, May 21, 2013 ~ 12:45 p.m.

It is no secret that bold rainbow colors are making a big come back in weddings these days, and today's featured wedding is a wonderful example of this trend. With mismatched bridesmaids dresses in a variety of bright colors and pretty flowers in shades of yellow, orange and lavender, this wedding really has a personality all its own. Jessica and Matthew are both actually in the military and stationed in Germany, but planned their wedding from afar in Bentonville, Arkansas. With photography by Jamie Fender, Jessica and Matthew were married last May in the middle of a wide open field beneath a floral arch and quirky chandelier.

The reception was held under an open tent outside and had a fun rustic feel to it, as guests drank their cocktails out of glass mason jars and ate gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches off of vintage china. Centerpieces featured glass jars of fresh wildflowers with added touches of burlap and twine used throughout the wedding decor. As wedding favors, Jessica and Matthew chose to give their guests some of their favorite snacks - popcorn and maple candies.
