I stopped by Joanne's earlier today looking for fabric for my reception tables (no luck, unforunately), and I noticed that there is now a TON of Valentine's Day stuff out already. I guess I shouldn't be surprised...done with one holiday and retailers are already onto the next one! Anyway, for anyone who is planning a February wedding and looking to incorporate a little bit of the holiday into their day, without having to go overboard pink valentines, Sweethearts and red satin, I think doilies would be a rather chic way of going about it.
Whenever I see doilies, it makes me think of those sweet valentines I always made in elementary school. You know, the big heart made out of red construction paper, with the doilies decorating the outside? Not only that, but doilies seem rather easy to incorporate into a wedding given that they're all white and lacey! Here are some great DIY ideas using doilies for wedding favors, centerpieces, garlands, hanging paper lanterns and cupcake wrappers, in addition to some other items that are doily inspired.
