Vintage Church Wedding in Rich Purple and Green Hues Tuesday, November 29, 2011 ~ 10:29 a.m.

I don't know about you, but I have had a serious obsession with mercury glass lately. I would have it all over my house, if I could! There's something so modern, yet antiqued and vintage about it, I think. Its glamorous silver sheen has also become pretty popular with the holidays coming up - just try searching for it on Pinterest! I even found a DIY lesson or two to help you recreate the look of mercury glass at home using mirrored spray paint. The use of silver, glass and candles are all great, economical ways to dress up a wedding, because they're accessible and cost effective, yet they remain glamorous and sophisticated.

The wedding I'm featuring today is full of gorgeous silver pieces - both new and vintage - with purple and white roses, freesias, gardenias, delphiniums and hydrangeas sprinkled throughout the wedding ceremony and reception venues. The bride is actually a cousin of talented wedding photographer, Kay Meyer, who was especially excited to photograph Darden and Doug's big day in Tallahassee, Florida last August. Over two hundred guests gathered to witness the couple's marriage at the grand Faith Presbyterian Church. You'll notice that there's a really touching photo below of the couple embracing each other after the wedding ceremony. Darden later told me that this was hers and Doug's favorite memory of the day. "...having a moment together outside the doors of the church...It was so powerful to hold each other and reflect on the wonderful commitment we had just made in front of our family and friends," she said.

Soon after, the evening reception was underway at the elegant Goodwood Museum and Gardens, where friends and family dined and danced well into the night. Before leaving, each guest also received small jars of Tupelo Honey, which is a favorite of both Darden and Doug, and is especially unique to where Darden grew up.
