Today is a hard day for me because I'm coming home from my wedding and honeymoon in Mexico! To cheer myself up, I thought I'd show off what I ended up putting together for our destination wedding. I didn't want to give anything away before, so I'm excited to finally divulge all of the details, including what worked, what didn't, what was worth the hassel and what I could have done without for our destination wedding.
First up are our wedding party gifts. My new husband, Dale decided to give his Best Man, dad and brother, along with my stepdad and brother, each a pair of Rainbow flip flops as a gift, which they'd also wear on the wedding day. They're kind of a beach/California staple, if you ask me, and will hopefully be a gift that each of the guys will be able to get a lot of use out of this summer!
As for the ladies in our wedding party, I purchased custom-made clutches for my Maid of Honor, mine and Dale's mom. I originally had the idea to give a clutch as a wedding party gift because my Maid of Honor only had one or two clutches total, and usually borrowed one of mine when we went out. Once I started shopping for the wedding party gifts on Etsy, I decided that it was the perfect gift for all of the women in my wedding party. I tried my best to find clutches that were cute, of course, and within my budget, but also matched their dresses for the wedding.
After much debate (so much, in fact, that I had to pay for expedited shipping to make sure I received all of the clutches before I left for Mexico!), I decided to purchase three bags from AMSIE. Besides the fact that I thought the clutches were adorable, I also thought that the prices were fair, and I loved that the shop offered a discount for purchasing more than one piece at once.
Here are the gifts that I purchased for the ladies in my wedding party:My Maid of Honor wore a silk navy blue dress at the wedding, so I went with a white canvas clutch with a removable navy blue flower pin.
For the each mom, I went with the same design, but in a champagne color with an ivory flower. My mom chose to wear a champagne colored dress for the wedding and Dale's mom wore a light blue dress, so I thought that the colors would work well for both of them.
The clutches for the wedding party turned out really well, overall. I LOVED the flower pin on each of the clutches, but they did get a bit smashed after a little bit. Amsie was a pleasure to work with, and responded to my messages quickly and got my order out even earlier than I expected (and remember, I had a TIGHT deadline!).
My absolute favorite detail was the embroidered wedding date - February 5, 2011 - stitched inside each one of the clutches. I thought it was a nice, subtle way of incorporating the wedding into the wedding party gifts, without going overboard to the point where the gift wasn't useful beyond that one day.
