Last Fall, Ben and Stephanie were married in a classic Catholic wedding ceremony with 150 guests at the Old Cathedral Basillica church in downtown St. Louis. Nicely contrasting the old with the new, the couple's wedding reception was held later that evening at the Missouri Botanical Garden, a modern venue with clean lines, lots of natural light and striking black & white decor. Prior to the reception, Photographer Katie Beach explored the downtown area with the bride and groom, and their wedding party all dressed in classic black tuxedos and navy blue dresses, to take photos against the urban city backdrop.
The bride allowed each venue to really shine; keeping hers and her bridesmaids' bouquets all white with flowers including classic roses, lillies and hydrangeas, and limiting the reception centerpieces to one small, square vase of blue hydreangeas on each table. One of my favorite details of the affair were the green wedding favors, which were individual tree saplings that could be replanted in the ground in support of the Arbor Day Foundation. Each sapling was placed in a thin tube with a small insert that read, "To all the branches on our tree of life, thank you for sharing this day with us. Steph and Ben, September 25, 2010."
...And if the gorgeous wedding wasn't enough to make you smile, the bride told me that one of her favorite moments of the entire day was when her new hubby, Ben surprised her with a jaw-dropping 6-carat diamond tennis bracelet as a wedding gift!
