Today's New England wedding, beautifully captured by Heather Parker Photography, really reminds me why I love wedding paper so much!
The preppy color palette of navy blue, fuchsia and lime green was reflected in matching paper and fabrics by Anna Griffin, all showcasing ornate patterns selected by the bride, Alexa. The summer wedding had an "elegant casual seaside" look, with "...a subtle nautical theme" for the summer season, and "...a few Southern touches," to celebrate Alexa and her groom, Andrew's college alma mater, Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Ultimately, all of these inspirations melded together perfectly in what turned out to be a perfectly preppy, classic wedding by the sea.
Alexa and Andrew traveled from their home in Chicago to marry at a historic brick mansion overlooking the ocean in Ispwich, Massachusetts. The bride dreamed of marrying at Castle Hill at the Crane Estate since she was a little girl, and with its sprawling green fields, salty ocean breezes and grand architecture, it's easy to see why! The bride and groom's classic wedding invitations by Blush Design Studio had a strong nautical theme, with a strictly navy blue and white color palette. For the wedding, Alexa worked with Dot Your i's Events to bring her visionof a elegant seaside event to life, and took it upon herself to handle many of the decor elements, including the ceremony programs, which she printed using a gocco, and the adorable pinwheels for the wedding cake and the escort cards, which were a huge hit among guests.
The paper details didn't stop there, of course! The bride had paper pomanders to decorate the ceremony aisle, table numbers, dinner menus, pennant (or flag) banners to decorate the bar and lawn areas, and drink stirrers for their Southern-inspired signature cocktail - a sweet tea vodka with lemonade. The couple's family also lent a hand sewing the chuppa top and reception table overlays, and baking well over 1,000 cookies for a late night snack for guests. There was no shortage of fresh flowers, with bright arrangements of pink and white hydrangeas, roses and gerbera daisies sprinkled throughout the ceremony and reception decor.
You'll notice that the bride had a unique charm attached to her bouquet. Alexa and Andrew were both very active in Greek life while in school, so the couple had their fraternity pins soldered together just as the groom's grandparents had done with theirs many years ago. Cute, right?
