I'll never forget the moment that I told my mother that I was engaged. The gasp of surprise, her eyes all welled up with tears and the feeling of pride when she started calling her close friends and family to share the news. From that moment on, my mom was beyond excited for my wedding day (dare I say even more excited than the groom?), and she was my biggest cheerleader throughout the wedding planning process. Even now, three months after our wedding, she's constantly whipping out her iPhone to show off wedding photos to her friends and co-workers!
If you're anything like me, you would probably agree that it can be difficult to find someone else who is as excited as you are about your wedding day. Even your best friend or maid of honor (bless her heart), may try her very best, but it just isn't the same as having your mother, grandmother or even a special Aunt there by your side to share the experience with. Those special women play an amazing part in one of the most important days in any woman's life, and for that reason, they should also be thanked and honored on your big day!
I thought I'd do a Mother's Day gift guide with a twist! Here are some gift suggestions for moms, as well as Mothers of the bride and groom.
Gifts for the Mother of the Bride and Groom on Mother's Day
I know my mom is on the hunt for a cute case for her new iPhone (which, by the way, I'm still surprised she knows how to use =P). This adorable polka dot case by Kate Spade is a big contender!
My mom is a huge fan of "mushy" cards, and my brother and I know it. It doesn't matter how many times we end up saying the same thing, she always wells up with tears like she's reading the words for the first time. The one time that I went with a funny card instead of an emotional one, I definitely heard about it later! The hot pink Mother's Day card by Made by Girl pictured above leaves plenty of room inside for you to open your heart! Some other cute options include the Mother's Day "Fill in the Blank" greeting card and the "Such a Good Mom" greeting card, both via Up Up Creative.
Stationery and notebooks are a fail-safe Mother's Day gift, in my opinion. This "Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake" Notebook is perfect for my mom, and she knows why! ;)
What woman doesn't enjoy candles? Just try to go out of your way to get some nice, high quality ones for Mother's Day. This gift set from Voluspa Maison Blanc has 8 small white candles in a variety of scents. Can't go wrong, really.
If you're more of a DIY kind of girl, try framing this Mother's Day Free Printable via Sugar Fresh Designs to give your mom on Sunday..."God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers."
Philosophy 'amazing grace' mother's day gift set at Nordstrom.
Custom Ring Bearer Bowl by Paloma's Nest. This dish can also be used to hold small, precious jewelry. I purchased one for my mom last Christmas personalized with, "A daughter is a daughter all the days of her life," which my mom keeps in her nightstand to hold her earrings and rings at night.
I feel like any woman would be crazy not to love receiving a pearl bracelet! This Majorica Single Row 8 mm Pearl Bracelet at Nordstrom is simple, pretty and just under $100. Perfect piece to wear on the wedding day, too!
I purchased my mom a custom clutch, which I gave her on my wedding day. I tried to get her one that matched her dress that day, but also one that I thought she'd get some use out of beyond the wedding day. The clutch had my wedding date embroidered in it, as well, which a lot of Etsy vendors will do for an extra $5 or so. Davie and Chiyo makes some beautiful, high quality bags, and I highly recommend them!
My mom has a million and one of these things, otherwise, it would be the perfect gift for her! A big, floppy straw sun hat by Juicy Couture at Bloomingdales.
