We had quite a night here last night. We purchased a couch about a month ago, and it was FINALLY delivered to our apartment. We were SO excited to finally get it, because our old one is significantly smaller and much less comfortable. However, when it came time to get it through the door yesterday, it wouldn't fit. Too long. Admittedly, we do live in a smaller apartment, in an awesome location a couple blocks from the beach. We plan on getting a house in the next year or so...but that's an entirely different, and much more complicated story. We picked the couch because it was comfortable, also knowing that it would be a bit large for our living room right now, but we'd be able to put it in our new house one day. However, we can't even get the thing through the door at this point. The only other option we have to get it into our apartment now is to somehow get the couch through our window on the SECOND floor. *Sigh* Who knows.
Anyway, enough of my bitching! I promised you an engagement session! This shoot by Joy Marie Photography features two very good looking people in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. It's a beautiful engagement shoot, but honestly, I was kind of surprised when I fell in love with this one because I hardly ever go for the sexier shoots! I think it's a personal preference, as it really does depend on what you want to get out of your engagement shoot. Will you be using your engagement photos for your Save the Date cards, or sending these out to friends and family to keep? Are they for you and your partner to look back on in twenty five years and remember how hot you both looked? There's no wrong way to do an engagement shoot, if you keep your specific needs in mind. You can go more natural, with just you and your husband in front of a camera, do something more cutesy and elaborate like a vintage style picnic, or go sexy with an exotic location and a little bit of PDA. Any of these engagement shoot concepts can be amazing when done correctly with the right photographer, but it's important that you and your partner sit down first to figure out what you want out of your engagement photos first.
Today's couple, Brooke and Damian, clearly wanted an engagement shoot that showcased the more intimate and sultry sides of their relationship. Photographer Joy Marie did an absolutely amazing job scouting out some beautiful spots for photos at the Santa Barbara Mission and the Santa Barbara Courthouse. While these venues are hardly sexy on their own, Joy Marie did a beyond fabulous job of using the light to give Brooke and Damian's engagement photos a much more dramatic look and feel to them. The sexy couple certainly didn't hurt, either!
