Before I get into today's real wedding, I wanted to mention that today, I was lucky enough to be able to guest post over at one of my absolute favorite wedding and stationery blogs, Lemon and Lavender! Here's a sneak peak at my post, but please do head on over there to check it out! :)

Brides wearing colorful cardigans

Alright, now on the with show!

With the support of talented wedding professionals Marcie Gaukrodger of Bliss Event Planning and Melody Davis Photography, today's real wedding has all of the makings of a perfectly elegant wedding. The gorgeous mountains in the background, chic white floral centerpieces, spiffy tuxedos and pale pink bridesmaids dresses all scream style and refinement. But what I love most about this particular wedding is how personal the couple managed to keep their day, even with all of the other cosmetic stuff that we know and love. I think that it's easy for couples to forget to make their day about them, or even worse, feel like they can't include their dog, collection of sports memorabilia or favorite kettle corn snack because they're too afraid to mess with all of the other "pretty" things. This wedding is a perfect example of how to do it right!

Nestled at the base of Mt Currie in Pemberton, British Columbia, Ashlie and Jeff were married at the beautiful Cedar View Estate mountain lodge with 100 guests there to support them. At the wedding ceremony, Jeff and Ashlie actually passed around their wedding rings to each and every one of their guests, asking their friends and family to bless them before they exchanged the rings in marriage. Another personal detail from the day, which was one of Ashlie's favorite memories too, actually brought tears to my eyes. Just a few days before their wedding day, Ashlie and Jeff's dog, Oliver, was struck by a car and killed. As the two continued to struggle with such a terrible loss, while not having Oliver there to be a part of their special day, one of Ashlie's bridesmaids set out to do something special to honor their furry friend. She had small "Oliver" pins made using Ashlie and Jeff's favorite picture of him, and handed them out to all of the guests to wear at the wedding. Ashlie even had one pinned on the inside of her dress, against her heart, as well as on her garter. SUCH a sweet, sweet thing...

The afternoon wedding ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour with live music and bocce ball. Snacks and refreshments were served at a fun wooden "Lemonade Stand," built by the groom and his father, where guests enjoyed homemade cookies made by the bride and cups of ice cold pink lemonade. The evening reception was held in a tent outdoors, surrounded by mountains and stars, and decorated with modern floral arrangements and ornate aluminum lanterns in clean, elegant white. Guests actually found their seats by locating their own baby pictures (so much work, I'm sure, but how sweet is that?!) pinned to clothes lines, and the tables were all named after the bride and groom's favorite movies (i.e. Anchorman). Each placesetting had a small jar of raspberry peach jam, homemade by the bride and groom using berries that they picked themselves.

Once guests found their seats, they were then asked to contribute a page to Ashlie and Jeff's fun guest book! The bride's mother had designed "We Say Cards," which were tucked inside the napkins for all of the guests to fill out. The colorful cards all had questions about the bride and groom, such as what animal each of them would be. Then, guests were asked to make their way over to the gifts table, take a photo of themselves using the polaroid camera, and attach their photo to a piece of black cardstrock, and then personalize the page with markers to be inserted into the final guest book.

You'll soon see what a truly beautiful, elegant wedding this is, but all of the personal touches are really what did it for me! Hopefully, it'll inspire some creativity for your own day ;)
