Keri and Corey first connected at church a couple of years ago, where they were both volunteers and regular attendees. On their one year anniversary, which was luckily 10-10-10, Corey took Keri out to a Thai restaurant, where they had their first dinner date together, and then to the beautiful Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, where they spent their second date. The final, third stop on their anniversary celebration was to a cozy spot on Mulholland Drive overlooking the entire city, where they had yet another date previously. The lovely view did not come with peace and quiet though! Keri was startled by the coyotes howling, and even asked Corey if they could leave. Good thing, she didn't! Corey hid the engagement ring in a journal, where he had cut a hole into the journal pages, and had written, "Will you marry me?" inside. "A literal paper proposal!" Keri told me. I was so excited after reading that! :)
The couple was married five months later in March up at the picturesque Lake Arrowhead Resort in California. While the lakeside area had experienced snowstorms the weekend before and after Corey and Keri's wedding weekend, luckily, the weather turned out beautifully for their special day. You may notice that this wedding has a distinctive style to it, that seems to be part rustic charm, and part elegant chic...although I get the feeling that the couple just focused on making their day about them, above all else, and the rest fell into place beautifully with the help of some fabulous vendors! Thus, the "charming" factor ;) This wedding was shot by the ever-talented Micah & Megan Photographers, both of whom did a great job of capturing the beautiful wedding venue and special touches throughout the day.
The flowers and centerpieces for this wedding are really beautiful, and they're definitely my favorite decor details in this real wedding. Tastefully arranged by Fleuretica to include roses, ranunculus, anemones and lamb's ear, in soft pink, ivory and green, the bouquets and table florals really amp up the feminine, chic factor for this wedding. Keri and Corey chose to name each of the tables at their reception after famous couples in love including Daisy and Gatsby (from The Great Gatsby - great book if you haven't read it...I've been thinking about reading it again lately - this could be a sign!), as well as fairy tale's Cinderella and her Prince Charming. Each of the couple's 125 seated guests received a pair of ornate chopsticks collected from Little Tokyo, in homage to Corey and Keri's experiences living in Japan for some time before they had even met!
The newly married bride and groom (who just celebrated their 6 month wedding anniversary yesterday, by the way!) honeymooned in the Caribbean, on the island of St. Kitts, for two weeks. Looking back, the Groom's favorite memory was during their first dance as a married couple. "We started our first dance and I was just caught up in the moment, happily admiring my new bride, when she asked, 'Do you notice anything about the song?' And then as I listened, I realized it was in-fact her [Keri] singing the song! She had recorded it as a surprise!"
