Today's couple proves that simplicity can be truly beautiful. Just listen to their engagement story..."Brian and I had been together about 5 years before he walked into the kitchen one evening [with a bag of groceries] with the proudest smile on his face...I thought he was surprising me with dinner. He handed me the bags, and as I started to put things away, the last thing I turned around for was a little black box in his hand. We both just stared at each other for what seemed like hours, and I had to remind him to actually propose, which if you know us, is pretty fitting," said the bride, Katie.
Katie and Brian were later married in June at the Spring Green Castle in Blue River, Wiscosin in a simple and intimate ceremony beneath the prettiest overarching trees. They only had their photographer, Dani Stephenson, and their immediate family present for the exchange of vows, and the remaining guests arrived an hour later to celebrate at the wedding reception. Can I just say that I LOVE Katie's dress??? That lace back is absolutely stunning! Katie had spent much of the day beforehand working side-by-side with her family to arrange the flower bouquets (roses and baby's breath), cook dinner and set up the outdoor reception area. At the wedding, all of the guests received little jars of homemade and home grown raspberry jam.
The evening came to a close after Katie and Brian's wedding party surprised them with the lighting of fireworks and marriage lanterns. "It was such a sweet ending to the day, as we were all huddled together by the fire pits. We were SO overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and generosity of our families, that it really reminded us how the party was really about two families coming together," said Katie.
