Picks on Paper - Destination Wedding Dresses Wednesday, February 22, 2012 ~ 8:36 a.m.

I was thinking that I've been neglecting my fellow destination brides lately, and it was about time to do a little something for them! Every bride's favorite topic? Well, wedding gowns, of course! To be honest, I don't think that any woman should allow their wedding venue or location to dictate what they should or shouldn't wear. There are no rules when it comes to choosing "The Dress," if you ask me. If you want to wear a ball gown and Manolo's on the beach? More power to you! Or, if you are really concerned about wearing something super light and comfortable on your hot summer wedding day, then go with it!

Personally, I wore a dress that probably wouldn't be categorized as a "Destination Wedding" dress or one that screams, "Beach Wedding," but it was my dress, and that's what mattered! My ivory lace gown would probably go under the "Fit & Flare" category that I've included below, but again, I didn't really let my beach venue dictate my decision. With that being said though, go with your gut; don't worry so much about what is considered appropriate, or if what you want fits into one of these categories that I've created below. This is meant to be more of a guide for the bride out there that may need a little guidance to help her pick her wedding dress for her destination wedding coming up. Above all else, don't let your venue affect your wedding dress choice, if you don't want it to!

Hi, Sarah,

Just got a question for you, any details on these gowns you have listed. I have a few brides asking me questions about them, designer, reference no., store where purchased or available, etc. I realize you have a lot on your plate, lol, but any info on the GORGEOUS gowns would be helpful for future brides who are falling in love with them!

Hi Mindi! Thanks for your comment :) I went back through the sources listed and included as much detailed information about all of the gowns as I could. You'll notice that many of the dresses can be purchased online, and for those you can't, you'll be able to find "Salon Locators" on most of the designers' websites. If there's a specific dress that you're having trouble tracking down, please let me know. I hope that helps!

So many gorgeous options! My favorites are in the long and layered category - they're just so dreamy!
