This wedding perfectly toes the line between upscale elegance and soft, natural romance. With soft pink roses, pure white gardenias, garden arbors, lace and birch wood details, this real wedding showcases so many fabulous ideas that I know you all will (or already do) love!
You might be surprised to learn that this romantic wedding was held in the Battery Gardens in New York! The garden arbor, rose petal lined aisle, and soft pink and white florals helped transform the more structed, modern venue into something entirely different. "We wanted our wedding to evoke a sense love and beauty, but also be fun for our guests..." said the bride, Bridget. "We also had a separate ceremony the next day in a church that only about a dozen people came to. It was a compromise with Nick, since I really wanted the outdoor ceremony and he wanted a Catholic ceremony. I am so grateful that he was willing to let me have the wedding I dreamed of outside."
Bridget and Nicholas welcomed just over a hundred guests to their big day in the Battery Gardens, although many strangers stopped to watch their ceremony in the park. "I can see some couples in our pictures that were watching us arm-in-arm and I think it's so sweet that our ceremony seemed to spark a moment for people who didn't even know us!" said Bridget. The early evening wedding ceremony was made particularly special for Bridget and Nicholas because of their preparation with their officiant beforehand. The officiant worked closely with the couple to create a very personal, intimate ceremony that was unique to their relationship. "We worked with [our officiant] to complete a 7-page survey and two interviews, plus we each wrote something to say to each other prior to our selected vows. The whole thing was so personal and about just the two of us," said Bridget. The couple also fondly remembers struggling to get each other's wedding rings on during their ceremony in the summer heat! "They fit fine now, but that day, they did not want to go on!"
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed an outdoor cocktail hour before moving indoors for an elegant dinner reception. All of the guests received small bird's nests filled with candy eggs, and enjoyed an especially delicious canola buffet toward the end of the night. The reception venue was decorated with dahlias, ranunculus, gardenias, freesias, astilbe, roses, hydrangea, lisianthus, dendrobium orchids, queen annes lace and curly willow in shades of pink and white, along with softened cream colored linens, rustic wooden details and lots of romantic candlelight. The bride utilized Etsy in the best way possible too, in my opinion, purchasing small, yet impactful details to give the wedding a softer, more handmade look and feel.
