Today's very chic destination wedding was beautifully shot by Julian of Wainwright Weddings, and was held this past November at a private villa right on Canggu Beach in Bali, Indonesia. Yeah, I know...it's insanely cool! The worldly couple, Alexandra and Harley, traveled from Melbourne, Australia to Bali, where they had vacationed many times before, for their intimate sunset wedding on the beach. Set beneath a beautiful canopy draped in light and flowing fabric, with Bali's blue waters as their backdrop, the bride and her two bridesmaids walked down the aisle just before sunset with white bouquets of orchids, cymbidiums and roses. By the way, aren't the bridesmaids' dresses by Willow super cute?! It almost seems wrong to call them bridesmaids dresses, they're so chic! Upstaged only by the gorgeous bride herself, Alexandra wore a gorgeous wedding gown by Luci Di Bella, heels by Thurley and fine jewelry by Simon West.
Like many destination weddings, this one did not come without a weather related hiccup or two! After dealing with rain most of the day before the ceremony was set to commence, it stopped just in time to allow for Harley and Alexandra's outdoor ceremony and reception. "Our favourite moment of the wedding day was straight after the ceremony when the sun appropriately came out on queue at the commencement of 'Here comes the sun' by Nina Simone. It was the perfect end to such a happy and heartfelt ceremony," said the groom. The bridal party walked back down the aisle as each of their 55 guests in attendance showered them in white flower petals.
While the wedding party ventured to the beach for photos, the guests mingled and enjoyed canapes and refreshments, while listening to the amazing vocals and guitar work of the acoustic band, Traffic Blues Bali. "...After Julian captured some magnificent shots, we joined our guests for an outdoor BBQ inspired dinner by Beyond Events Bali. The delicious cocktails, champagne and local Bintang beer flowed, and the speeches and dancing followed shortly after. The mood was right, the temperature was hot, and most of the guests ended up in the pool - clothed, half clothed, or no clothes at all!" said Harley of the big day.
Anyone who has experienced a destination wedding before knows that one of the greatest things about it is that the celebration goes well beyond the actual wedding day itself. "...Our wedding wasn't just one day though, as we were able to celebrate with friends and family over the course of our week in Bali. Two nights before the wedding, we had a pre-event at Potato Head, a fantastic beach bar nearby, and the day after the wedding, we invited guests back to the villa for a recovery pool party complete with personal masseurs."
Well, I don't know about you, but I'm down for a trip to Bali. Who's in?!
