Fun and Spirited So Cal Wedding Tuesday, March 6, 2012 ~ 9:00 a.m.

Boy, do I have a fun one for you today! The wedding photos, captured by (once like a spark) Photography, are so filled with life and joy, that you can't help but smile. As you'll soon see, Sydney and Chris had a traditional church ceremony at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Irvine, California, but the wedding takes a fun and unexpected turn at the reception, held at the always amazing barn at the Strawberry Farms Golf Club. The reception was decorated with whimsical yellow tissue poms and string lights, as well as somewhat contrasting pale blue table linens and romantic pink floral centerpieces. A USC alumni herself, the USC marching band made a surprise appearance for Sydney and her new husband, Chris' first dance! "Everyone was on their feet, cheering and dancing. It was SO joyful!" said Sydney.

Although Sydney and Chris are both from Southern California originally, the two first met in Hartford, Connecticutt, where they met at a party and ended up staying up all night talking about their mutual love of distinctive California things (like In-n-Out!). The duo continued dating, until the following year when Chris moved to Brooklyn for volunteering. "Although the distance was challenging, it was really fun to be able to spend time together in Boston, Brooklyn and Hartford. Because of the distance, our time together was limited, and therefore very precious to us," said Sydney. Two years later, Sydney and Chris moved to the Bay Area together to be closer to their families, who live down in Orange County. In May of 2010, the couple traveled back to Hartford for a former co-worker's wedding, and while there at a rose garden, Chris proposed and Sydney said, "Yes!"

I was lucky enough to receive a photo of Sydney and Chris' actual painted wedding invitation by My Personal Artist. Isn't it gorgeous??? So unique and perfectly lovely.

For their wedding, Sydney chose a romantic combination of pale pink and cream-colored roses, pale yellow tulips, coral peonies, white hydrangeas and succulents. For hers and Chris' church ceremony, they chose to incorporate many Filipino traditions, which included a veil made by the groom's mom, that was pinned around them with a cord, symbolizing the couple living under God's protection and being clothed as one. Chris also gave Sydney 13 coins, signaling his intent to take good care of his new wife and family. After the ceremony, guests celebrated the newly married couple well into the evening, marking their presence with pictures in the photobooth. The guests left that night with bags of Chris and Sydney's favorite pieces of See's Candies (My favorite, too! YUM!) and boxes of animal crackers (for the kids, of course!).
