Rachel and Mitchell were engaged in Paris, France, on one of the illuminated bridges along the Seine, with the Notre Dame Cathedral in view. After Mitchell slipped the diamond ring on her finger, the couple toasted the beginning of their new life together with glasses of champagne, out on the little balcony of their hotel room there in Paris. They spent the evening excitedly calling friends and family to share their big news. It's a total fairy tale, I know! I thought I'd start with the story of their engagement, because much like that night in Paris, Rachel and Mitchell's wedding was classically romantic, elegant and exuberant.
As you will soon see, there are a million and one reasons to fall in love with this wedding! The elegant black tie attire, the pretty pale pink roses, the particularly gorgeous couple, the stunning ceremony venue...the list goes on and on. However, for me, I think the photography, by Anastasia Photography, is what is most striking for me. Intimate moments caught on film with creative camera angles, vibrant color and pure joy that is just radiating from the photos.
Rachel and Mitchell were married in the summer at the Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar in Vancouver. Isn't that courtyard ceremony venue stunning with the surrounding greenery and grand chandeliers? The night before the wedding, the couple hosted a rehearsal dinner on the rooftop deck of their building, overlooking the ocean and mountains. "We had a sunny evening for this, which was a blessing. With the amazing help of my chef-trained Maid-of-Honour, my mom, Mitchell, bridesmaids, and other foodie friends, we cooked up an Asian-inspired feast for 50 people," said Rachel. The next day, Rachel walked down the red velvet aisle at 4:30 p.m., and shared a celebratory toast with all 67 of their guests right after the ceremony.
After sharing their first dance to Van Morrison's "Someone Like You," Rachel and Mitchell shared dinner with their small group of guests. Rachel's sister kicked off a fun night of dancing by singing Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," backed by DJ Leanne, a trumpet and bongos. "Everyone danced from that moment on...Four hours with a packed dance floor! Grandma's, too! It felt like an awesome house party with all our favourite people in the world," said Rachel.
