Bridal Fitness on Paper - Basic At-Home Workout Monday, June 4, 2012

Hey guys! Thanks to my mother in law, Kathy, who sent her son home when he visited last month with several back issues of Women's Health magazine, I have been busy trying all kinds of workouts! Most of which have been easy to do at-home, which you've gotta love every once in a while when the idea of getting all ready and driving over the gym just doesn't sound all that appealing! My biggest complaint about the magazine workouts though, is that it seems like oftentimes, the routines just include resistance training exercises, when really, us girls really need to get our cardio in on a very regular basis if we want to really burn those calories. The key is to get your heart pumping for at least 20 to 30 minutes a day; at least, that's always been my main goal. It not only helps you maintain your weight, it's also just plain good for you. Especially in a world where we all usually sit still in front of a computer for 8 hours a day. Too bad typing doesn't burn more calories, right?!

So anyway, I found one of these resistance training workouts in a back issue of Women's Health, and I decided to turn it into a more well-rounded workout that I could do anywhere, anytime, using only a pair of dumbbells and/or a kettlebell. After finishing it, I was definitely tired! My heart was pumping and the sweat was flowin', and so I thought it would be worth sharing with you guys. My husband was also kind enough to take some pictures of me doing the resistance exercises, so you have a better idea of what it is I'm talking about when I say, do 15 "Goblet Squats".

Love it! I also love that your hubby to the pics of you :-) And I totally agree...wouldn't it be nice if typing burned more calories. I'd certainly be able to eat a LOT more ;-)
