Happy Friday! I'm sure that I'm not the only one going to a graduation this weekend! My little brother is graduating from college up in San Luis Obispo tomorrow, so we're all going up there for the weekend to celebrate him before he moves up to San Francisco to start a new job.
This weekend, I'm leaving you with a super pretty wedding, which took place right near where I grew up in Southern California. What really drew me to this wedding originally was the gorgeous photography by Jen Disney. There's one shot of the ceremony that nearly took my breath away, and I'm in love with all of the shots of the bride getting ready and the intimate photos of the couple together outside. Upon second glance, you'll also notice that there aren't a TON of details in this wedding. It's very simple, but you don't even realize it because it's so well done!
Desiree and Jeremiah actually met when they were 18 and 19 years old at a leadership conference. "She remembers meeting a guy named Jeremy who said, 'I'm going to own a Chick-fil-A some day,'" said their photographer. Fast-forward 9, 10 years, and the two reconnected through a teen mentoring program - Desiree was the director of the program and Jeremiah was volunteering his time, having also moved his way up the food chain at Chick-fil-A, of course! While Desiree had a rule against dating her volunteer leaders, she eventually gave in and the couple got married in October.
Many of the wedding details were handled by the couple, family and friends. Desiree and Jeremiah both wore super cool shoes - she sported a pair of silver sequined TOMS and he wore a pair of awesome personalized Air Jordans in blue and white! Even the guys were stylin' with their personalized "Carolina blue" kicks, and the bridesmaids all wore back cocktail dresses of their choosing. The sweet ceremony took place in front of a big, beautiful tree, just as the sun began to set behind it. Desiree and Jeremiah each wrote letters to one another, and then the officiant, Jeremiah's own mentor, read aloud at the ceremony, where many tears were shed! The decorative centerpieces were simple, using wildflowers arranged by a friend, with candles in mason jars and wine bottles. Dinner was provided by a taco guy and desserts and drinks from Chick-fil-A, of course! Except for the whisky (Desiree's drink of choice), which was brought by friend, Joel McHale ;)
