Well, hey, it's Monday. I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was actually pretty productive. Dale and I went shopping and did some work around the house. I also spent a lot of time in the kitchen baking chocolate chip cookies to give out to all of our new neighbors. Everyone in our neighborhood has been so incredibly nice, it's crazy! I'm from California, where you barely know your neighbors' names, let alone have their phone numbers! It's really different, but it's such a nice change. Especially considering that Dale's and my families are both out of state.
While we were getting work done around the house this past weekend, it got me thinking about how many calories you can burn on a regular day at home, without really trying. I mean, being on your feet all day unpacking boxes, cooking and baking...that has to burn a little something off, don't you think? Assuming you don't eat too many of your own cookies, that is ;) Not only that, but our new house has two flights of stairs, which has definitely taken some getting used to. I've actually never lived in a house with more than one story before, and I'm surprised by how tired I get climbing the stairs throughout the day! I have even taken to climbing them at the beginning and end of my at-home workouts as a nice little warmup and cool down.
My curiousity obviously inspired today's Bridal Fitness post, which breaks down the calories burned per minute while completing simple household tasks. I also threw in the moving and painting activities since we did just move! Obviously, none of these activites are going to replace a good, hearty workout at the gym, but I've found that it definitely helps motivate me to climb all of those stairs a little bit faster!
