Picks on Paper - Designer Diaper Bags Wednesday, January 16, 2013 ~ 9:00 a.m.

So I feel like I should preface this blog post by saying that I'm a bit of a handbag snob. I'm not out buying thousand dollar handbags on a regular basis by any means, but I'm the type of person who would rather buy one nice, quality bag per year than five or six cheaper ones. Really, I only own four purses that I've had for years, and I rotate through each of them throughout the year. Sure, I have a few fun and less practical clutches that I use for special occasions, but that's about it. When I decide it's time to purchase a new handbag, I take my time looking. It's a serious endeavor for me, and boy, do I research to make sure I find the one I love the most, the one that fits in my budget and (hopefully) one that I can find on sale or at a discount.

That's why finding "the" diaper or baby bag has become somewhat of a side project for me lately. Now, I know what a lot of you guys are's a freaking diaper bag! It's meant to be ugly and get destroyed, isn't it? Well, I don't think so, and I am determined to find the right one for me. This year, I don't get a fancy leather handbag, I get a diaper bag, so you know it's going to be a cute one! I've been researching diaper bags on and off lately, so I thought that today, I would share my top five picks! I actually haven't decided on which one yet, although I'm sort of leaning toward the Marc Jacobs, so please help me choose by leaving a comment below! I would LOVE any input or advice!

I sell handbags for a living, so it's important for me to know the ins and outs these designer pieces. Last year I purchased the M by MJ embroidered eliz-a-baby bag and it is perfection! Okay, so I guess I should state that, no I do not have baby- I actually bought this to be my travel bag. But I can see all the merits of its original purpose: lots of interior and exterior pockets, two shoulder straps, a crossbody strap, it gets dirty- that's ok, pop it in the washer (but it's nylon so it actually stays amazingly clean). Oh, and it comes with a matching diaper pad. I've recommended this bag to all of my future mommy & papa clients and they are all very pleased with their purchase. Good luck with your search and congratulations!
