This wedding has such an elegant, timeless style to it, and I think the photographer, Lindsey Thorne did such an amazing job of capturing it. Amanda and Barret were married last October at the beautiful AMOA Laguna Gloria arthouse in Austin, Texas. "We wanted to create a certain atmosphere and most of the venues we'd toured felt too much like wedding venues. Laguna Gloria, being a museum and old house, had a sense of history and romance to it," said the bride.
The wedding was somewhat intimate with only 64 guests in attendance. Amanda and Barret married outdoors with a stunning backdrop behind them, just as the sun began to set in the early evening. Besides the stunning venue and photography, the florals really shined at this wedding. The bride was originally in love with peonies, but given their higher price point, she chose to rely on her talented floral designer at Loretta Flower to select flowers that had a similar look and feel, but stayed within the couple's budget. "They were GORGEOUS, and people kept commenting on them throughout the evening," said Amanda.
Before I sign off, I thought I'd share some very thoughtful advice from the bride. "There are so many expectations surrounding weddings, both your own, but also those of your friends and loved ones. I found myself trying hard to live up to other people's expectations for most of the year-plus leading up to the wedding. It was only in the last few months before the wedding that I realized it didn't matter what everyone else wanted or expected, it was our wedding and we could do it our way. With all the books, magazines and tv shows telling brides what 'needs' to be done, and what is 'proper', it can be overwhelming. Take a moment, breathe, and remember the wedding isn't about any of your guests or family. It's not even about you. It's about the two of you, together. I found that most 'traditions' actually began less than 100 years ago, so just go with what feels right to you and what is true to you and your groom. When the wedding is over, you'll look back at photos and realize you don't even remember seeing many of the details you struggled over. (Neither one of us ever saw the signs the caterer put up at the drink station until we got the photos) What you remember is that feeling you had when you got to marry your very best friend, and the feeling of having your favorite people around you, smiling on. That's not to say you won't or shouldn't struggle with the details. Rather take things in stride, stay true to yourself and your future spouse, and allow yourself to just be on your wedding day."
