I was so impressed with today's awesome aeronautical themed wedding, and I definitely think that you will be, too! Currently living in Austin, Texas, Bryce is actually a helicopter pilot for the US Army, which, of course, served as the inspiration for the special day. I love how the couple, Anna and Bryce, selected a theme and really went with it whole heartedly (and stylishly!). The wedding decor had a strong focus on airplanes and travel, with wooden airplanes serving as table numbers suspended above the tables from the rafters, an antique atlas guest book, vintage suitcases and map and aeronautical wedding stationery designed by Thinking Paper.
Beautifully photographed by J. Harper Photography, many of the adorable details of this wedding are DIY by the bride, Anna, friends and family. She selected a bold blue and yellow color palette to coincide with her aeronautical wedding theme, along with the garden style bouquets filled with dahlias, hydrangea, tweedia and lavender. The reception tables were decorated with royal blue linens, large lanterns and bright yellow spider mums. As wedding favors, guests received bottles of Vermont Maple Syrup (a homage to their wedding location) and Texas BBQ dry rub from Salt Lick BBQ, Anna and Bryce's favorite BBQ restaurant back near their home in Texas.
Despite all of the lovely photos and details, a few things actually went wrong during this wedding! Thankfully, you would never know it! The bride, Anna, was kind enough to offer her lessons learned to all of you planning brides out there. "Make sure you have enough time in the morning. I thought we did but ended up feeling so rushed! Plan your pictures! My photographer asked me to make a list of must have pictures at the wedding, but I got so caught up in all the other planning I completely forgot and I definitely regret it."
And last, but not least, "Don't worry about anything. Our outdoor cocktail party and reception games were unexpectedly cancelled by crazy storm and tornado warning (yes, in Vermont!) that decided to blow in. Our pictures were rushed during the few minutes the rain let up, and our dinner was delayed because the wind almost blew over our catering tent. And yet, everything still went smoothly and I decided not to notice that many planned elements were missing. It was a beautiful night!"
