Hello, my name is Andrew James Abajian. I am an editorial + romance photographer/film maker based in Southern California. Between freelancing for publications and working with musicians and designers, I have found myself blissfully in love with fine art wedding and romantic styled photography.

Sarah was gracious enough to ask if I could fill in on a blog post while she is away and I was absolutely honored.

When I was thinking about what I wanted to discuss that may help and inspire future couples, I found myself at a bit of a loss. I've never been married, let alone engaged. But then I realized that when it comes to romantic creatives the possibilities are endless. This is about you, telling the story of your love. And with that I decided to share a new way of announcing to friends and family that you're getting married.

Being a film major and having that be my background before photography became my primary art, I was captivated by the idea of romantic styled films. The possibility of re-enacting scenes from "When Harry Met Sally" with a newly engaged couple began to imprint in my mind. Can you imagine taking an extremely romantic scene from your favorite film and doing a themed engagement shoot (which I've seen done before,) that is also filmed and edited as an announcement? I'm sure many lovers would go straight for the scene in "The Notebook." Rain pouring, on a lake, confessing ultimate love for one another. And yes, I have seen "The Notebook" and I am not ashamed for one second. Hopeless romantic over here.

Of course, for some, that may be to extreme of an option, so imagine this. Many photographers today use gear that is capable of filming in HD, myself included. For the sake of this blog, entertain the idea of working with an artist who has the skill and vision to film your engagement session and then edit it as a creative announcement to send out virally to everyone. Of course the pictures are still as equally important and valuable. But think of the romantic statement you make creatively and emotionally if family and friends could experience a 2 minute film showcasing your cinematic love.

As of now I have proposed this option and created 2 different engagement films, as well as 3 different wedding films. And it's such an encouraging and motivating fact to know that more and more couples are intrigued by having film work done. I have added one as an example to this blog. As you think of your engagement and even to your wedding, I would love for you to really consider the idea of bringing cinematic art back into the fine art wedding genre. Because while I admire photography and all that it has to offer, there is nothing more special then seeing your face light up in real time when you are with the person you love.

Thank you so much for reading and hopefully considering the creatives that I have shared with you. I am currently offering a spring deal of 10 percent off my wedding packages to those who book through this month.
