I have to say, I'm a little bit ashamed to admit that this is my first time featuring a marital event celebrating the Indian culture! I've actually been to an Indian wedding before, and I was amazed by the overwhelming feeling of warmth among family and friends, the traditions and the awesome dancing (SO FUN). As you can see, I'm a huge fan and am always anxious to learn more about the Indian culture. That's why I'm very excited to get to share Nidhi and Sachin's beautiful and elegant engagement shoot by Katherine Salvatori Photography today.
"Already dressed for their traditional Sagaai engagement ceremony later that evening, we got together earlier in the day to celebrate with an engagement session," said their photographer, Katherine. I was reading more about this Sagaai engagement ceremony, and it is much more than an engagement party. Parents of the prospective bride and groom mainly conduct an engagement or Sagaai ceremony to set the wedding date. Although some Indian communities will hold the engagement ceremony as late as a few hours prior to the actual wedding. The couple will exchange rings, and then the elders bless the bride and groom and offer them gifts like sweets, jewelry and clothing.
For her engagement shoot before the Sagaai ceremony, Nidhi wore a stunning white sari to go along with her shiny new engagement ring. The girl is gorgeous, and her ring is almost as pretty - just the right blend of classic and unique.
