Earthy Country Wedding in Forest Green Tuesday, May 20, 2014 ~ 10:40 a.m.

Hey guys! Hope everyone is getting through Tuesday okay. Just think - HOLIDAY WEEKEND. Man, that sounds nice, doesn't it? Can't wait!

There are so many things to love about Skiles and Dan's earthy country wedding held on a family ranch in Montana. A few of my favorite details from the day includes the bride's super cute style with her short vintage wedding dress and cropped cowboy boots, the sweet and simple daisies everywhere (my favorite and also my wedding flower!), and the natural forest green color palette. The beautiful day was skillfully captured Bright Bird Photography, who summed up the fun day rather eloquently.

"This was a classic and beautiful Montana ranch wedding. The ceremony and reception were held at the bride's family ranch outside Red Lodge, Montana, with both Canadian and US flags waving in the wind, since Dan is a native of Vancouver and Skiles is from Montana. Handpainted wooden signs cheerfully pointed the way off the dusty dirt road leading to family ranch. The bride wore a vintage dress that she modified herself by having it hemmed short, at knee-length. She also surprised everyone at the last minute by insisting on wearing her cowboy boots rather than the elegant heels her mom had picked... It was perfect for Skiles, whose casual elegance was present all through this gorgeous day. The food was prepared by Thomas Nelson, from nearby Red Lodge, Montana featuring traditional bbq beef and steaks. Montana is famous for it's big cattle ranches, and this was a dinner not to forget! Guests danced into the night, and Skiles passed around hand-crocheted hats that she had been working on all year, as party favors, and everyone put theirs on and danced the night away."

DIY elements included the place cards, which were rocks collected by the bride's mom from the north shore of Lake Superior, where the bride's grandparents own a little log cabin. So sweet. The arch used at the ceremony altar and the (rather awesome) photobooth backdrop was built by the groom and his brothers using wooden materials found on the family's property. Guests also left with boxes of homemade gingersnaps using a secret family recipe.
