Today's wedding is kind of different, and that's the big reason why I love it! The couple, Laura and Patrick, weren't afraid to break the rules and do something totally different with their day. Not only that, but I happen to be from Los Angeles originally and the couple was married where I went to college, so I fell in love with this wedding somewhat instantly.
I thought other couples may be inspired to go outside of the box after seeing how Laura and Patrick planned out their big day with friends and family. "We wanted our wedding to be a celebration of community, and the many forms that word has taken on in our lives. It was a celebration of the community we had created as a couple. And what we wanted more than anything else was to turn our wedding day into one big recognition and celebration of everyone who has and will continue to make our partnership thrive. The more we planned the day, the more we realized there were two things...that shaped the way we viewed community: Our travels abroad, which exposed us to so many cultural viewpoints, and just as importantly, our travels across LA, which more often than not, were just as impactful."
To celebrate their love of Los Angeles, Laura and Patrick actually planned a mini tour of their favorite LA spots in between their wedding ceremony and reception at Loyola Marymount University (my alma mater! ;) After the Catholic ceremony, the couple and their guests traveled by bus with Randy's Donuts in hand to the famous Coliseum, then made a stop at the Laura and Patrick's favorite fusion restaurant, 23rd Street Cafe. The tour came to a close at historic Olvera Street, where they spent time munching on churros, and taking in the history, crowds, and music that Olvera Street has to offer.
Not only was this tour a hit with out-of-town guests, but it made for some awesome wedding photos! Huge kudos to the photographer, Stacee Lianna for capturing the whole day with style and ease. Moving around from church, to bus, to LA hotspots and back again couldn't have been easy!
