Meghan and Miguel share many passions; two of which being travel and skiing, and both were incorporated into their engagement and wedding day. The couple got engaged during the holiday season 2013 on an epic cruise down the Panama Canal, outside on the deck after a fancy dinner. Their love of skiing and winter sports was honored in their beautiful wedding locations, at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church and Solitude Mountain Resort in Salt Lake City, Utah.
"The entire wedding was designed around the fact that I wanted to ski in my wedding dress on my wedding day. That was the major driver," said the bride, Meghan. "Often, I'm a little girl in a grownup's body, and I love things that sparkle!" She actually pieced two different dresses together into one white, glam gown for her big day.
Meghan and Miguel's wedding ceremony was kept very traditional to honor their cultures as much as possible. With the groom's family from Spain and Mexico, and the bride, an Irish Italian from Denver, both wanted a traditional Catholic ceremony spoken in both Spanish and English. After the ceremony, the couple hit the slopes with their photographer, Logan Walker and their wedding party. The group had a lot of fun capturing shots toasting each other in their ski boots and winter gear, and on top of the ski lift!
Bolder decor was showcased in the wedding reception, utilizing an orange and gold color palette. "In front of the fireplace was a set of tables with pictures of Miguel and I from all of our adventures. Each frame was different and picked by us. On the other side of the room was the 'Ski Table.' We found a pair of old wooden skis online that served as our guest book. As you climbed the stairs wax candles lit the way with a variety of ski and snowboard boots filled with flowers... As you got upstairs, it was likely the first time you notice the chandeliers and drapery as it was subtle over the lower area. To the left was the place card table. Each table was named with one of the resorts we have skied at around the world. I think six countries in all."
