First of all, it just wouldn't feel right if I didn't wish my wonderful hubby a very happy birthday today! February is always a big and busy month for us, with our wedding anniversary on the 5th and then Valentine's Day, and finally, Dale's birthday on the 25th. We did a lot of celebrating this past weekend, so tonight will be a quiet celebration at home for us! Naturally, I'll use this opportunity to share a photo of my two good looking guys, too. Haha, this one always makes me smile :) It was at the airport right before we boarded a plane to go back home after visiting Dale's family over Thanksgiving.
Last October, Kena and Eric hosted almost 400 guests for their wedding at their family farm in Rush, Kentucky. The big day was captured by Abby Hacker Photography, and as you'll soon see, there was no shortage of colorful flowers, rustic details and vintage decor.
Many, if not all, of the details from this rustic wedding were DIY. "The flags around the field were cut and strung by dear friends with care that week," said Kena. "The appetizers and desserts were all made by family and friends. Our wedding cake was baked with love by Gram Broomall, who passed away a month later...our wedding, and cake, was her last big adventure!" The couple also incorporated horses that were handpainted gold, buttons collected by the bride's grandfather, as well as vases and dishes collected from grandparents and friends. The bourbon barrels placed around the venue were collected from the Wild Turkey distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY and the large spoils used as tables were cleverly borrowed from the local steel plant.
