Happy Monday! Today, I'm switching it up and instead of a Bridal Fitness blog post, I'm sharing a beautiful fall wedding shot by Equals D Photography. I hope you guys don't mind; like I have mentioned before, since I am going on maternity leave in April, my regular editorial schedule is going to be a bit different for the next couple of months. I'm really excited to share some great, creative content with you guys!
Anyway, back to today's wedding! Jake and Michelle were married this past November in beautiful Central California. Their wedding had a strong rustic, fall theme to it while stylishly incorporating bold shades of orange and blue violet. Rustic floral bouquets were filled with dyed sunflowers, baby's breath, asiatic lillies, delphinium, roses and chrysanthemums. Reception decor included wine bottles elegantly wrapped in burlap, lace and twine, atop stacks of thick hardback novels.
During the reception, Jake and Michelle had a couple of fun ideas that I thought were worth sharing, including the "Shoe Game," where the bride and groom sit back-to-back on the dance floor, take off their shoes, and swap one shoe with one another. Then, someone reads a list of questions about them, and the bride and groom answer the questions by holding up the shoe of the person they think best suits the answer. "It was really funny and gave our guests a chance to get to know unique things about us," said Michelle. Michelle also got creative with the garter toss, giving it a whole Star Wars theme by using the appropriate themed music and sewing actual Star Wars figurines onto the garter!
The bride, Michelle, handled many of the wedding details herself, including the adorable signage used during the ceremony and for wedding photos. She had a lot of advice to share with APP brides! "Once the day comes, relax, have fun and take in every moment you can...It's not your job to worry and fret about details on the day of, you are supposed to be having fun. Get as many people on the same page and let them run the day. Also, my DJ ran things the day of and we loved it! So much better than having a coordinator...Also, we wish we would have recruited a friend or family member to take videos here and there, especially with all of the camera phones [around]. The day happens so fast it was almost like we weren't a part of it because it was such a blur. Lucky for us, our photographers took over...so once [the photos] were all put together, it seemed almost like watching everything unfold all over again."
