Every once in a while, I get a wedding submission like this one by Photography by Erika Parker that really stands out amongst the rest. The wedding is bold, colorful, fun and creative. It doesn't necessarily have the biggest budget, the most flowers or the fanciest decorations, but I think that it's different enough to inspire all of you planning brides out there to think a little more outside of the box.
After meeting while teaching at the same middle school in New Orleans, Lisa and Tim were married at the funky contemporary Foundry venue in New Orleans. The wedding actually took place the same weekend as the town's legendary Jazz Fest, with a full weekend itinerary of fun events. The wedding celebrations began with a Thursday night crawfish boil at the couple's new home in the Lower 9th Ward, followed by a Friday night welcome party at one of their favorite bars, the wedding on Saturday and finally, a Sunday brunch followed by a rainy afternoon watching Dave Mathews Band at Jazz Fest.
The wedding was decorated with a rich and bold color palette of fuschia pink, red and orange, with the tables named after musicians playing at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. The couple had an awesome band to help get the party started. "I have never danced so much in my whole life. From the moment dinner was over until they turned on the lights, we were surround by friends and family on the dance floor. It was nonstop fun for hours," said Lisa. Guests were given mix CDs and bottles of Slap Ya Mamma, their favorite New Orleans spice, as wedding favors.
